02Services

Six services, each with its price

Every service below states what is included and what it costs. A price marked “from” is the lowest price for the stated scope; a custom price is quoted in writing before anything is set aside. Nothing on this page holds an appointment.

The six services in full

A varnished mahogany saloon table beside white hull lining and a slatted cabin sole, inside a small sailing yacht.

01

Viewing appointment

$75 per appointment

One hour alongside at Chandlery Wharf with a broker. The paperwork, the survey history and the engine hours are set out on the table before anyone goes aboard, and questions are answered from the documents. Shoes with soft soles are asked for on deck. This website does not say which boats are for sale; the reply to an enquiry does. Send the preferred date through the contact form first.

Best for

Best for a buyer at the start of a search who wants to see a boat properly before shortlisting it.

Booked by the hour, Tuesday to Sunday.

An archive black-and-white photograph of a wooden yacht under way in open water, seen from astern with a small party aboard.

02

Sea trial

$350 per trial

Up to two hours underway with a skipper. The boat leaves the moorings under the skipper’s hand and the helm is handed over once it is clear, so turns, speed and handling can be judged at sea rather than at the dock. Up to eight people may come aboard. The skipper decides on the morning whether the weather allows a fair and safe trial.

Best for

Best for a buyer with one boat on the shortlist who needs to feel it moving before an offer.

Trials leave at 9:30 AM and 1:30 PM.

Two white sailing yachts with their mainsails up, lying off a grey misty shore with crews on deck.

03

Trade-in valuation

$250 per vessel

An inspection of one vessel alongside, followed by a written valuation that lists what raised the figure and what lowered it: hull, rigging, sails, engine hours and the inventory aboard. The valuation is an honest figure for a trade-in, not a promise of a sale price, and the owner keeps the written report whether or not anything is traded.

Best for

Best for an owner who wants a straight figure before deciding whether to sell or trade.

The written valuation follows within five working days.

The cockpit of a small sailing yacht seen from the stern, with teak slatted seats, winches and the open companionway.

04

Survey coordination

From $600 per survey

Three independent surveyors named for the buyer to choose from, the haul-out booked at the yard and the report passed on unedited. The showroom does not carry out the survey itself. The fee starts at six hundred dollars for a boat up to thirty feet and rises with the length; the figure is confirmed in writing once the boat is known.

Best for

Best for a buyer who has never arranged a survey and does not want to choose a surveyor blind.

Usually arranged within two weeks of the enquiry.

05

Brokerage listing

From $1,500 per listing

A boat photographed at the wharf on a calm morning, listed with the comparable sales written down beside the asking price, and every viewing reported to the owner in writing the same day. The fee starts at fifteen hundred dollars and rises with the length of the boat; the figure is confirmed in writing before the listing goes out.

Best for

Best for an owner who wants straight answers about the asking price and a record of every viewing.

Listings are prepared within ten working days.

06

Charter enquiry

Custom quoted in writing

A charter week or weekend for a named party, answered with a written quotation that states the amount and what it does and does not cover. The price depends on the dates, the size of the party and whether a skipper is needed. Nothing on this website holds a boat or a date; the enquiry opens a conversation by email or telephone.

Best for

Best for a group planning time on the water who would rather ask one question than compare listings.

One charter enquiry at a time. Replies come during opening hours.

07Contact

How contact works, in three steps

  1. A message arrives

The contact form sends the name, email address, optional telephone number, the service named and the message. Nothing else is collected and nothing is charged.

  2. The showroom replies

Ruth Calder answers by email or telephone during opening hours, confirms the scope and states the price that applies. A “from” or custom price becomes an exact figure at this point.

  3. An appointment is agreed

Only after that reply is anything held. Book a viewing opens the same enquiry form as every other contact action on this website, so a date is asked for here and confirmed by the showroom separately; the website never states that a date is free until that confirmation has come back.

08Suitability

When two services look equally right

The descriptions above are written so a visitor can choose without asking. When two still look equally suitable, the shorter path is to send one message naming both: the showroom answers with the one that fits the boat, the size of the party and how far the decision has come. Access needs and survey questions are answered the same way, in writing, well before the date.

Suitability depends on a customer's own needs, and the showroom does not claim a service suits everyone. The questions page covers the eight asked most often.

Contact

Name a service and send one message

The reply confirms the exact price for the scope described above. A message is an enquiry and does not hold an appointment.

Or write to hello@wrenfieldyachts.example and the showroom replies during opening hours.
