What clients have said

Six comments, each numbered and each linked to the service it refers to. Between them they cover what the chairs are asked for most often: fades, shaves, beard work, classic cuts and junior appointments.

I had been getting fades that looked sharp for a week and then grew out into a shelf above the ear. The barber asked how often I actually come in before choosing the height, set it lower than I would have asked for, and blended it further up the head than I was used to. Three weeks on it still looks deliberate, and the price was the one on the website.

I booked the straight-razor shave before a wedding and was nervous about it, having only ever used a cartridge razor. Everything was explained before it happened, the towels were hot rather than warm, and the second pass was skipped on my neck because the skin was getting red. No nicks, no rash the next morning, and I was told why the shave stopped where it did.

My son had cried through two earlier haircuts somewhere else. The barber started with scissors, showed him the clipper and let him hear it before it went anywhere near his head, and did not rush when he wanted to look in the mirror halfway through. Thirty minutes, a straight fringe, and he has asked when he is going back.

I had worn the same cut for ten years without knowing what to ask for. The questions came from the barber instead, about how I style it in the morning and how long I leave between cuts, and the answers decided the length. Nothing was added that I had not agreed to. The price published on this website was the price at the till, which is not something I can say about every shop.

The contact form asked for the service and the day that suited and not much else, and the reply came back with a question about how long I was growing the beard rather than a sales pitch. The trim kept the length and fixed the neckline, which had been creeping up under my jaw for months. It finally looks like a beard I chose rather than one I stopped shaving.

I book the hour for both every month. What keeps me coming back is that the neckline of the haircut and the line of the beard are set together, so they meet instead of fighting each other. The barber says plainly when the beard needs taking shorter to keep its shape, and leaves the decision with me. I have sent two friends so far.

The service wanted and a day that suits are enough to start. The shop replies with the times a chair is open.
