The treatment team

Four people work at Cedar Hollow Day Spa. Each profile below names the role, the service or services that person takes, and what is settled with a guest before a treatment begins.

The photographs on this page show the tools and the scents used in the treatment rooms. None of them is a picture of the person named beside it.

  • Wooden massage rollers and a shaped hand tool laid out on a cloth.

    Massage

    Marisol Vega

    Lead massage therapist

Takes the Cedar Hollow signature massage and the warm stone back and shoulders service.

Marisol Vega takes the signature massage, at sixty or ninety minutes, and the warm stone service, in which smooth basalt stones warmed in water are worked across the back and shoulders with the hands. Pressure is agreed before a session starts and checked again partway through, in the room and out loud. Whatever is happening will stop or change at any point a guest asks for that, and no reason has to be given.

Ask for this role when the booking is a full-body massage, or warm stone work across the back and shoulders.

  • Scented sticks standing in a narrow jar.

    Booking diary

    Daniel Whitfield

    Spa director

Daniel Whitfield runs the booking diary and the introductory visit, which lasts twenty minutes and carries no charge. What a service involves and what it costs is explained before anything is reserved, never after it. Where a shorter or a cheaper service would suit the visit better than the one asked about, he says so plainly, and the introductory visit is allowed to end with nothing being booked at all.

Ask for this role when two services look equally suitable and the right one has not been settled yet.

  • A reed diffuser with thin reeds standing in a clear bottle.

    Skincare

    Priya Raghunathan

    Skincare lead

Priya Raghunathan takes the hydrating facial: a cleanse, a gentle exfoliation, a mask and a finishing cream, over sixty minutes. The choice is made by looking at the skin on the day rather than by working through a fixed routine. Every product is named before it is used, and anything a guest asks to avoid is written down and kept on the note for the next visit.

Ask for this role when the booking is a facial and every product should be named before it is used.

  • Eucalyptus buds and stems photographed close against a plain ground.

    Body treatments

    Elena Marchetti

    Body treatment therapist

Elena Marchetti takes the sea salt body polish, a salt and oil scrub applied by hand and rinsed in the treatment room’s own shower, and looks after the cedar sauna and the quiet room. The room is set out before a guest arrives rather than while they wait. The quiet room is kept free of conversation so that it stays usable, and it seats six, which is the number it seats when it is full.

Ask for this role when the booking is a salt scrub, or unbooked time in the sauna and the quiet room.

Who takes which service

The six services are carried by the four people above. A visitor may name a particular member of staff in the booking message, and Cedar Hollow Day Spa confirms whether that diary has room before the appointment is held.

Start with the introductory visit

It takes twenty minutes and carries no charge, and it ends either with the service that suits the visit being planned or with a plain statement that none of the six does.
