Six reviews, printed in full

Each review is shown complete, attributed as it was given, and labelled with the service it refers to. No average is published, because six reviews do not make an average worth anything.

We were planning a Providence wedding from Chicago and had no idea what was realistic on our budget. The planner put a written tracker in front of us at the first meeting and updated it after every payment, so we always knew what was left. Nothing was booked until we had seen the contract, and the day itself ran exactly as the schedule said it would.

We had planned everything ourselves and only wanted somebody to run the day. Eight weeks out, every supplier we had booked was re-confirmed in writing and one or two gaps were found that we had missed entirely. On the day, two coordinators were there from the delivery van at eight until the last car, and neither of us was asked a single logistical question.

Six months before the date we were behind on almost everything and close to giving up on the plan we had. The office took the outstanding half without once suggesting we should start again, and kept the caterer we had already fallen for. The rehearsal was run properly, which meant the ceremony was the calmest part of the whole weekend.

The scheme came back drawn to the actual dimensions of the hall, with a price beside every line of it. Two of our ideas were costed and then honestly described as poor value, and the alternatives looked better in the room than the originals had in our heads. Somebody came at nine on the morning to set the tables and check the finish.

The consultation cost nothing and we were told, in plain terms, that full planning would be more than we needed for sixty guests. The written summary that followed set out what day management would cover and what it would not. It is unusual to be steered toward the cheaper service, and it is the reason we came back.

Four venues in one day, all arranged and driven for us, and a written comparison three days later. The comparison included the access times and the corkage that neither of the two venues we liked had mentioned on the telephone. The room we chose was not the one we expected to choose, and the report is why.

Start with a consultation

It costs nothing, commits nobody, and ends with a written summary of what was discussed and what it would cost.

An email when new plates go up on the wall or a Saturday opens in the diary. No fixed schedule, and one link in every message removes an address from the list.
