About the studio
Lacquer Room Nail & Beauty Studio is a nail and brow studio on Haywood Road in West Asheville, North Carolina.
Mei Tanaka opened the studio in 2019 in a former print shop, with four manicure tables, two pedicure chairs and a brow bed by the front window. It offers six services: a classic and a gel manicure, a structured gel overlay, hand-painted nail art, a classic pedicure, and brow shaping with tint. Each is a single named service at a single published price.
Hygiene is treated as part of the service rather than a background detail. Metal tools are cleaned and sterilized in an autoclave between clients, files and buffers are single-use or go home with the client, and pedicure basins are scrubbed and disinfected after every appointment. Each table has its own extraction, which keeps the smell of product down in a small room.

The price is the price
Every service is published with what it costs. Nail art that needs longer is priced before painting starts, never afterwards.

Nail care, not medical care
Lacquer Room does not diagnose or treat nail or skin conditions. A nail that looks infected or sore is referred on rather than covered with polish.

Clean tools, every time
Metal tools go through the autoclave between clients and files are never shared. Any client may ask to see the sealed pouch opened.

The studio replies with the times that are free and confirms the price. A first brow tint also needs a patch test 48 hours before.

Arrive with nails as they are
There is no need to remove polish at home. Removal of the studio's own gel is included and other product is quoted in advance.

The technician works within the published length and says before starting if a design or a repair needs longer.
What the studio does not do
Lacquer Room is a nail and beauty studio. It does not offer acrylic extensions, lash extensions, waxing beyond the brows or any procedure that breaks the skin, and it does not treat fungal nails, ingrown nails, warts or other conditions of the nails, feet or skin. Where a request needs one of those, the studio says so when it is asked rather than taking the appointment.
