Owner and senior stylist
Marisol Duarte trained in Charlotte and spent nine years cutting at a busy downtown salon before opening Fernhollow on Haywood Road in 2014. She takes most precision cuts and restyles, and she is the stylist to ask for when a long-held shape needs to change completely. Her consultations are unhurried: she asks how the hair is styled on an ordinary weekday before she picks up the scissors.
Color director
Theo Lindqvist has worked with color for twelve years and leads every balayage and single-process appointment at the studio. He mixes each formula by weight and keeps a written record of it, so a return visit starts from the exact shade used last time. He runs a strand test before any large change and recommends two shorter sessions over one long one when the hair needs it.
Curl and texture stylist
Priya Raman specializes in curly, coily and wavy hair and cuts it dry, curl by curl, so the shape is visible while it is being made. She came to Asheville from a texture-focused salon in Atlanta in 2019. Appointments with her include a short walkthrough of washing and drying routines that can be repeated at home with ordinary products.
Blowout stylist and guest coordinator
Jonah Whitfield handles blowouts, gloss and conditioning appointments and looks after the front desk between them. He confirms each request, notes the length of the hair and any recent color, and makes sure the right stylist and the right amount of time are set aside. He is the person to ask when it is unclear which service or which stylist fits a request.
