What the two forms collect

Contact form data

The contact form collects a name, an email address, an optional telephone number, the service selected, the client type, the optional other party’s name, deadline and county, and the message written. Nothing else is collected by the form, and there is no hidden field.

Do not send identification numbers, account details, scanned documents or any other confidential material through this form. Sending it does not create an attorney-client relationship, and what it contains is used to check for conflicts and to reply.

Subscribe form data

The subscribe form at the foot of every page except this website’s not-found page collects one email address, and the address of the page the form was sent from. No name and no other detail is requested.

Why the firm collects it

Contact form data is used to run a conflict check, to answer the enquiry and, where work follows, to open a matter file. Subscribe data is used only to send the quarterly notes described beside the form.

Neither set of data is sold, rented or used to build a profile, and neither is used for advertising.

Who receives it

Messages reach the four people who work at Ashcombe Street Law. Delivery depends on an email provider and a form-handling service, which process the message in order to deliver it and act only on the firm’s instruction.

The names of those processors are published in the launch checklist for this website and are confirmed on request.

How long it is kept

An enquiry that does not become work is kept for twelve months and then deleted, except for the names used in the conflict check, which are kept so that a later conflict can still be found. Where work follows, the file is kept for the period stated in the engagement letter.

A subscriber address is kept until the subscriber asks for it to be removed, or until the notes stop being sent.

The security limitation

Traffic to this website is encrypted in transit, and access to messages is limited to the four people whose roles are set out on the Staff page. No website form can be described as secure enough for identification numbers, account details or confidential documents, and this one is not.

That is a limitation of the medium, not a temporary state, which is why the form asks visitors not to send that material.

Visitor choices

A visitor may write by email instead of using the form. Every subscribe email carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect on the next send.

This website sets no advertising cookie and runs no third-party analytics script.

Asking for deletion

A deletion request can be made by email. The firm confirms in writing what was deleted and what, if anything, it is required to keep under its professional obligations.

A request is answered within thirty days.
